Linköping University, LiU, is a dynamic young University (founded in 1975) on the top-50 ranking of young Universities (i.e., LiU is ranked as one of the “top 50 under 50”, which is a worldwide ranking of Universities < 50 years old). The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM) hosts a world-leading state-of-the-art comprehensive materials research facility, with wide resources in equipment and expertise (as described in the section Significant infrastructure).
In IL TROVATORE, LiU will participate through the Thin Film Division, and in particular with the research groups of Associate Prof. P. Eklund (Energy Materials, coordinator), Prof. J. Rosén (Materials Design) and Prof. P.O.Å. Persson (Electron Microscopy of Materials). Together they have a strong track record in leading interdisciplinary consortia, while both Profs. P. Eklund and J. Rosén are ERC Starting Grant holders. The Thin Film Division of LiU will bring into this project their know-how on thin-film processing, theoretical modelling and advanced materials characterization of MAX phase coatings on commercial clads (WP2 & WP4).
